I started self-medicating when I was 16 years old with Micropil. When I turned 18, I leveled-up to Diane 35.
Both are birth control pills which contain a synthetic estrogen called ethinyl estradiol, which poses risks when taken regularly.
Some of the adverse effects that one can get from taking ethinyl estradiol are liver damage, blood clots, and cancer of the uterus (which doesn’t apply to transwomen).
There are 2 types of medication that you’ll need as a transgender woman if you have not undergone orchiectomy (pagpapatanggal ng bayag) or sexual reassignment surgery yet.
I’m going to explain them in layman’s term because I am not a specialist and to not further confuse you.
This is the main hormone that would turn your feminization dreams into reality. Genetic women produce this hormone dominantly. It’s also responsible for their softer skin, curvier bodies, rounder faces, wider hips, and breast growth.
However, please know that it doesn’t affect hair growth on the face. If that’s your issue, diode laser is the best and most affordable option for you.
Its bioidentical drug forms are usually called Estradiol Valerate (what I use), Estradiol Benzoate, Conjugated Estrogen, Estradiol, and a whole lot more.
When talking about MTF Hormone Replacement Therapy Philippines routine, it’s imperative to take bioidentical medication in order for your doctor to properly diagnose you of the right amount of dosage as this one is the only type that appears in blood tests.
Ethinyl Estradiol, however amazing its effects are physically speaking, have grave adverse effects and won’t let your doctor determine if you’re overdosed or underdosed.
The very reason why I prefer injectable Estradiol Valerate (Progynon is the brand that I use) is the efficacy’s duration. 1 vial can last up to 7-8 days. Suffice to say, in my case, I only need to administer it once a week.
Please know that we have different estrogen levels so it’s best to consult your physician.

My Experience with Estrogen
With Diane35 (Ethinyl Estradiol), I’ve noticed that my food cravings were always present. My libido wasn’t affected but I was more moody, lazy, and weak. My breasts were always sore and I also barely grew zits when I was on it and my skin looked more glowing.
However, with Progynon Depot (Estradiol Valerate), I only feel weak and lupaypay within 24 hours after injection. I find that I’m more stable emotionally with it but I don’t feel as “beautiful” (I think it’s more mental) as I did with birth control pills.
PS: I was taking 3 Diane35 pills a day before bedtime which was purely self-medication and could’ve meant that I was overdosing. Don’t include Birth Control Pills in your MTF Hormone Replacement Therapy Philippines routine.
Let’s move on to the 2nd section…
This comes in 2 popular drug forms which are spironolactone and cyproterone acetate. The reason why Diane35 is very popular amongst Asian transgender women is because it contains both estrogen (synthetic) and anti-androgen.
Anti-androgens are testosterone blockers which is pretty much self-explanatory.
They block a good amount of testosterone (male hormone as most call it) which most transgender women dominantly produce.
Testosterone is responsible for muscle development, body hair growth, bone density, enhanced libido, musky scent of sweat, and other factors that most transwomen don’t want to be associated with lol.
While a high amount of estrogen can block testosterone, doctors still diagnose testosterone blockers to transgender women who have not undergone orchiectomy or sexual reassignment surgery yet for a more effective transition.
I’ve tried both Spironolactone and Cyproterone Acetate.
Cyproterone Acetate was introduced to me in 2 forms, Diane35 and Androcur. I’ve noticed that both drugs made me feel very weak and less productive. However, both didn’t affect my libido which is very surprising as the latter was created to chemically castrate rapists back in the day. Another reason as my libido may have stayed intact is because I was using both before bedtime. Testosterone levels are high when a person just wakes up (hello morning wood).
What I noticed when I’m on spironolactone (Hyles or Aldactone) is that I always pee. It’s the reason why it should be taken right after waking up in order to not disturb one’s sleep. My libido is not as high but it comes back at night time which is, to be honest, just about right because I don’t like feeling frisky in the daytime. I have too much work to do lol!
Physically, both are very satisfactory in results. I’ve never had a muscular body to begin with but I find that it’s easier to eat healthily when I’m under spironolactone.
Again, this is not an MTF Hormone Replacement Therapy Philippines guide, this is my routine.
